I ran into these Yohei Fukuda twist loafers and fell in love. They were everything I liked in a loafer: A great last. Cool leather. Black Suede-ish. Cool style. And I say cool style, despite never having been truly sold on the whole ‘twist strap loafer.’ But that is another blog post in itself. Today I have to keep it short and sweet as I am swamped.
Have you ever just scrolled Yohei Fukuda’s Instagram page? It is literally meditational. And while Yohei doesn’t stray too far off the path of classic styling, every single shoe is an immaculate banger. That means good for those who like to mistake my wording. He posts a lot so I miss it in my feed which is why I often search him out to scroll a few lines down and come across the greatness. That is how I found these awesome bespoke loafers in what I feel is hippo leather. I could be wrong though.
Yohei Fukuda made these twist loafers for a Chinese tailor, who seems to travel between 4 cities so do not know where exactly he is from. And when I saw these, I thought it was very fitting that a tailor created them. The styling goes hand in hand with what looks like his house cut. And I can see his clothing paired with these and feel it is a great match. His name is Clarence Wong and my hat is tipped to him for creating such a cool, yet simple model. Well done.
