Stupid Shoes of 2023 – The Fun Continues

Just when you thought stupid shoes could not get any worse (see here the last post), the very unique and interesting company MSCHF tops the charts with their new Big Red Boots. I first saw these on Instagram on some Canadian basketball player that I do not know, I literally thought he was taking the piss. But then I remembered the crazy world we live in and decided to do some research on the incredibly silly-looking plastic dumpster boots. What I found was incredible, and not in a good way.

I found out that these boots were literally the next hottest thing in celebrityville, the sad, dark place that we Americans love to aspire to and emulate its characters. If you Google them you will see what I mean. The company, MSCHF, had literally just dropped these at the time and for the whopping price of $350. With astonishing surprise, I found out that they sold out in 7 minutes. Can you imagine? Where is our world heading? Thankfully I think that only America and the UK are this ridiculous (also sadly, as I love my country but don’t recognize it anymore).

As stupid as these boots are, I am not mad at MSCHF. In fact, I think that they are a genius company. It’s like when Owen Wilson goes to see Will Ferrell in Wedding Crashers and asks him what he is up to and Will tells him that he is now crashing funerals. Owen, at first, is dumbfounded but after attending a funeral sees how genius it is. Same for MSCHF. I dislike everything they do but find it hilarious. Even more, so that anyone buys their stuff and more so at the price they sell for. It is beyond genius yet shows how sad our society is. The latter part, of course, is not great IMHO. But what you can do?

At the rate that I am seeing all of these horrifically stupid shoes, I do feel that there will be some blowback and a return to a classic style. At least, I am hoping so because if we continue down this path there is no hope for humanity. Time will tell I guess.
