I have been seeing a lot of shaft strap boots lately in the handmade shoemaker realm lately. At first, I didn’t pay so much attention to them but as more and more shoemakers started making them, I naturally became more intrigued. I think that the one that really grabbed my attention was the one that Bolero shoemaker of Japan did. So much in fact, that I decided to have a run at designing one and am eagerly awaiting the sample of it.
But this one by J.P. Myhre, Norwegian bespoke shoemaker, really really blew me away. Of course, it was easily done when he combined materials as we all know that I am a sucker for two tones. But I especially like that he chose what looks like canvas and put the strap in canvas too, as opposed to leather. It was very carefully designed and well thought and I have to tip to my hat to the famous Nordic shoemaker.
Another fine detail is the shape of the buckle which I also really like and find intriguing. Its shape is very unique and not often seen nor found for that matter as I am often at trade shows looking at buckles. A beautiful boot to say the very least. The customer chose wisely!
