This fantastic boot, made by Victor Vulpe, is easily one of the greatest boots (or piece of art) the world has ever seen. At least in my opinion. This boot was made for and was a part of the Top 3 in the World Championships in Shoemaking 2023, a contest showcased yearly at the London Super Trunk Show, hosted by myself, Shoegazing, and Kirby Allison.
What made it one of the greatest boots ever made, for me, was that I knew that Victor put all of his heart and soul into this boot. Victor has been involved in our competition since the inaugural event, always striving to better himself and his work. Last year, this boot got him into the top 3. He did not win in the end but just being in 2nd place gave him a lot of pride and gratefulness to be there and his exuberance was a nice sight to see. It showed how much he cared and how much he put into them.
Victor’s attitude was the icing on the cake, but that is not to say that the boots were not among the most impressive pieces of footwear the world has ever seen. He managed to make shoe art unlike what we had seen before: With a bullet in the heel, super detailed embroidering, what he claimed was the highest SPI anyone has achieved on the sole stitch and the list goes on. And that is not to take away from the 1st and 3rd place, as well as many others who made incredible pieces of art for our competition. They all did amazing work. You can see them all HERE and HERE.
