If you read my blog you will know that Chinese shoe brand Acme Shoemaker has made a lot of waves in the last 3 years. And for good reason. They make cool models, have flawless making/finishing, and offer elegant lasts that fit well. Not to mention the price for a shoe that is 100% handmade offers a value for money that is beyond reproach.
I have always loved saddle oxfords. They are historically my favorite style of oxford. I love the balance that the saddle offers to the shape of the shoe when executed well. I think it has a harmony that is unmatched in nearly all other types of oxford design. When I saw this saddle oxford by shoe brand Acme Shoemaker, I was blown away. It is very unique and quite interesting. And whether or not Acme shoemaker created this design, frankly I do not care, because what matters is that they executed it flawlessly and I discovered it through them.
I love the fact that the saddle is basically cut at half the size of your typical saddle strap. It gives it almost an unfinished look-and-feel without taking away from its beauty or design excellence. When you then look more carefully you will notice that this is not just any regular cap toe either. That cap is not straight but rather curved. That reminds me of Riccardo Bestetti as I know he was prone to make caps like that.
Needless to say, Acme Shoemaker is doing great things in my humble opinion. They are attending our New York Super Trunk Show this October 14th. If you are Stateside and have been hoping to see them in person, now is your chance to find out what all of the hype is about. I promise you will not be disappointed.
