It is odd as I feel like I have known about Massaro for about 10 years, but when scouring my blog for their name could not come up with anything. I found that quite strange as I vividly remember discovering them way back when but not really having a lot of info about them. As you all know, 10 years ago was a different world in terms of technology, websites, and of course the fact that Instagram was brand new, so to speak. I guess that lack of info deterred me from writing about them, at least that would appear to be the case. But recently, I had a little visit from a friend that use to work for my company that moved back to his native country of France and actually started working for Massaro as a custom shoemaker. The well-timed visit put Massaro back on my shoe map and now onto the pages of The Shoe Snob Blog.
While I cannot claim to know so much about them, I do find it strange that they are not more talked about in the shoe world. From the photos, they appear to make a very good pair of shoes. The highlighted one is probably the coolest spectator I have ever seen. It blew my mind when I saw it and I have actually been wanting to write about them for about a month now. Anyone that utilizes 3 tight rows of stitching on the upper usually grabs my attention immediately. Wingtips, two-tones, and a swan neck design, all in one? Check! And it comes in other colors, too? I am in love. Anyway, let’s get back to it.
I imagine that in the men’s shoe world they keep a low profile, as they are more catered to making ladies shoes. Years ago they teamed up with Chanel to make their shoes exclusively and of what we all know of Chanel, that would be an account grand enough to give all of your attention to. But, while Chanel keeps them busy, it would appear that they still utilize their showroom for bespoke clientele that want to make something special, hence the pairs shown here and my old employee being a maker there. So, for those of you curious for a maker that you might not yet be familiar with but that is making exquisite footwear, Massaro of Paris is a great avenue to explore.

I think I agree – that spectator is perhaps the coolest of its type I have seen. I’d probably be afraid to wear them – those pristine white suede sections would end up scuffed and/or dirty, and that would make me cry.
